Inclusion Through the Eyes of Educators

Understanding inclusion paves the way for real conversations about how to educate students, with disabilities in the traditional classroom setting. This study explored the daily lived experiences of 8 educators who taught in the inclusion setting. The participants are candid and their attitudes and beliefs are something all educators can relate to. Hold on to your easy graders, what you are about to read will awaken your senses and confirm your suspicions. Policy makers, read this carefully and be open to listening to the individuals who strive on a daily basis to provide the best education for all students, regardless of the child's academic , cognitive or physical disabilitiy. Social change in special education is well in reach. Administrators and policy makers, listen to the fear, hope, joy and frustrations of your teachers who teach in the inclusion setting.
