Beschreibung
Party ideology and the relationship between executive and legislative bodies has been a subject of significant interest to political scientists. However, little research has been done assessing the impact of ideology on the executive-legislative relationship. This book represents an attempt to fill the gap. The main argument of this work is that if ideology defines a parties'' behavior, and parties fill parliaments and form governments, then ideology should have a significant effect on the executive- legislative relationship. In order to test this argument, the author analyzed cases of implemented and intended institutional reforms in five European countries: France, Italy, Ireland, Netherlands and Sweden. This work explores the significance of the link between party ideology and executive- legislative relationship, and should be especially useful to students of European politics and Political Philosophy.
