Impact of Tafs¿r R¿¿ al-Ma¿¿n¿ on Tafs¿r Bay¿n al-Qur'¿n

Tafs¿r R¿¿ al-Mä¿n¿ is an extensive and elaborate Arabic commentary on the Qur¿¿n written during 1836-1851 C.E. by a prominent Islamic Scholar ¿All¿mah Mäm¿d al-¿l¿s¿ of Baghdad. Scholars have unanimously appreciated and accepted it as a valid, authentic and highly informative tafs¿r. M. Ashraf ¿Al¿ Th¿nav¿, prominent Sufi and Qur¿¿nic Scholar of Indian Sub-Continent heavily relied upon it when he was writing his tafs¿r, Tafs¿r Bay¿n al-Qur¿¿n, (completed in 1907 C.E.). He was mostly influenced from it so much so that almost every page of the latter has references to the former. The present work presents the different aspects of this impact and influence in a systematic way. The reader can find many interesting discussions related to the Qur¿¿nic Sciences in the present work. The discussions made here are highly valuable and interesting. The reader can hardly find such discussion elsewhere since very little has been written on these two Taf¿s¿r. The reader will not only get acquainted with the different aspects of the impact of R¿¿ on Bay¿n but will also get acquainted with the topics like the Bal¿ghah of the Qur¿¿n, role of ¿ad¿th in the explanation of Qur¿¿nic verses, etc.
