How did SARS-CoV-2 impact Public Health in Chile?

This book seeks to provide knowledge about Public Health and its transition in times of pandemic in Chile during the first year of the crisis.Public Health is a medical discipline that aims to achieve the physical, mental and social well-being of the population, through acquired knowledge and research, in order to strengthen health systems and ensure full exercise of the right to health, materializing this is complex in usual scenarios, but what happens if conditions change, and we are faced with a pandemic?In Chile, this respiratory disease called coronavirus disease caused a serious and unusual situation that leads to an imbalance in health care, where all the efforts of the health system are devoted to cure and prevent infection by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, leaving aside and prioritizing other diseases, which leads to the non-observance of the essential functions of health, as a result we see an increase in mortality and morbidity.
