Handbook for Manual Wheelchair Users and Caregivers

Based on the wheelchair users¿ views and needs, it is decided to develop a handbook for manual wheelchair users. As per the survey, it was highlighted that most of the users had not undergone any proper wheelchair training. Hence by considering their need, this book ¿Handbook for Manual Wheelchair Users and Caregivers¿was developed. Basic information about types of wheelchairs, parts of wheelchair, need of wheelchair and basic wheelchair skills were explained with simple language. As it mainly focuses beginners, caregivers and young rehabilitation professionals, some important topics like appropriate measurements, transfer techniques and common stretching exercises are included. Further to these, possible and simple adaptations for wheelchair users are highlighted with pictures and benefits. Some of the wheelchair users expressed that illustration and contents were the best part of this book.
