Forest Management: Silviculture & Forest Productivity

Indeed, silviculture is the set of practices carried out by the silviculturist in a forest stand by which we maintain their balance, ensure their regeneration, preserve and promote biodiversity and also produce goods and services for the benefit of forests.Forest productivity: Is defined as the capacity of wood production in a given site over a given period of time. The concept of forest productivity is very important in forest management. Its determination, essential condition for the choice of the species, the justification of their location, the estimation of the woody production and also a key element in the appreciation and the sustainability of the stands. In forest productivity, forest sites can be classified by fertility classes. This classification is made from a model, by tracing the dominant height curves according to the reference age using known candidate equations.
