Feministic Tone and Nativization of language in Deshpande's Moving On

The book critically analyzes Shashi Deshpande¿s Moving On and brings out the feministic tone and the stylistic features in the novel. Deshpande¿s major concern is to depict the anguish and conflict of the modern educated Indian women caught between patriarchy and tradition on the one hand and self- expression, individuality and independence on the other. Moving On is about Manjari Ahuja, a young widow and her struggle to secure self-respect and self-identity in a society that oppresses women. Applying Kachrüs examination of the linguistic aspects of the Indianization of English in India, the study also projects how Indianness gets reflected in the lexical and discoursal identities of Indian English
