Fall Prevention

It has been observed that elderly patients are at greater risk of needing medical attention. The admission of a patient to healthcare institutions always involves a risk, regardless of the process for which he/she is admitted. According to Bennett (2014), the hospitalized person who falls, significantly increases morbidity and economic costs due to inherent complications. The research aims to identify the role of the nursing professional in preventing falls in hospitalized elderly patients. Life expectancy has increased so substantially in the world that in the next five years the number of people over 65 will exceed the number of children under 5, a social transformation that led the World Health Organization (WHO) to choose the theme "Active Aging" for World Health Day. To determine the role of the nursing staff in the prevention of falls in the hospitalized elderly patient. 2.To formulate recommendations aimed at promoting the prevention of falls in hospitalized patients.
