Factors in choosing an academic institution

This study aims to investigate the determinants of choice of a higher education institution and university by students in Goma. A questionnaire was designed and administered to a sample of students found in four selected institutions. A non-probability convenience survey was used and we obtained 500 usable responses. The data from our survey was processed using Eviews and SPSS software. Through modeling, the results show that the important factors in the choice of a higher education institution in the city of Goma in the Democratic Republic of Congo are: the quality of teaching, the presence of a library, the respect of the academic calendar, the stability of the institution, the number of hours of classes, the number of students, the comfort of the building, the number of professors, and the rank of the head of the institution.
