Exploring Child Rights

Children are gift of God and valuable assets of any country. So they must be nurtured with care and affection, within the family and the society. We also know that children who are brought up in the spirit of love, understanding, respect and tolerance will grow up in mature and responsible citizens as impact of any experience during childhood remains life-long and plays vital role in personality development. But Children are not regarded as separate entities with distinct interests and attitudes and are taken for granted. Rights of Children are not respected and they are looked upon as properties that could be handled in any way. They are taken as merely the members of the family not of the society as a whole. Whereas Childhood is so tender a phase that it ought to be fully respected and skillfully nurtured to realize its full bloom. While dealing with the children their tastes, their likings and disliking ought to be fully considered. Every child is the extension of man and a promise to sustain mankind. CRC is a comprehensive treaty which guarantees survival, protection, participation and development of each child. Bringing awareness amongst people including children is essential.
