EVALUATE THE ROOT OF ACCIDENTS & SUGGEST REMEDIES ON NATIONAL HIGHWAYS

This book reports the study of cause of accident due to improper geometric design of highway. The problems of accident on Indian roads are very acute due to complex flow of vehicular traffic, presence of mixed traffic and lack of knowledge of traffic rules. Road accidents cannot be totally stopped but by using suitable engineering methodologies, rate of accident can be minimized. The present study is mainly focus on to identify the reason of road accident mainly due to poor geometry of highway and provides improvement or suggestion as per IRC codes, Manuals & MORTH publications. After the analysis of accident data and site visits of selected stretch the accident prone locations and gap in design is identify and suggest the improvement as per IRC references.
