Environmental Degradation and Economic Growth - Relationship

Developing nations have faced terrible obstacles in the way of achieving higher pace of economic development and industrialization without damaging environmental assets and ecosystem in the past few decades. The empirical studies involving the impact of environmental quality on economic growth has found the inverted U-shaped curve which they called Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC). The first part of this book explores the association between environmental quality and economic growth along with the role of income inequality within the Environmental Kuznet Curve (EKC) framework. This book uses three environmental quality variables such as Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emission, Sulphur Dioxide (SO2) emission and Particulate Matter (PM2.5) concentrations. A panel data of developing Asian countries is employed for the investigation.
