Enhancement of Internal Dump Capacity vis-a-vis Stability

An attempt is made to place before students (degree and post-degree) and professionals in the fields of Mining Engineering, Geology and Earth Sciences this important problem of stability and capacity optimization of existing Internal Dumps in opencast coal mines. With same recipe external dump slopes can be analyzed. It deals various phases of internal dump stability in a lucid style with live case studies. Book covers a wider spectrum ¿ determination of composition of material & physico-mechanical properties, plasticity and their effect on stability. Stability analysis of existing and optimized dumps by older & modern methods helps in identifying change in stability. In some of the cases, stability has improved in optimized dumps. Further, effects of plasticity of dump material on stability and identification of compound failures have been discussed. This helps in establishing norms and location of dump stability monitoring.
