Elements of Estate Management

The term 'Estate Management' in most cases can be said to be ambiguous. This is so because it could be expressed as a course or discipline in higher institutions like Polytechnics, Colleges of Technology and Universities among others. At the same time, it can be explained as one of the facets of Estate Surveying and Valuation profession. Essentially, for the purpose of this text attempt is made to cover the two. Hence, Estate management can be defined as the direction and supervision of an interest in land and buildings with the ultimate aim of obtaining maximum returns which need not always be pecuniary in nature but can as well take the form of social benefit, status, prestige, political power or some other goal or group of goals.
