Computer Based Testing (CBT) is a broad-based industry that encompasses a large variety of assessment types, purposes, test delivery designs, and item types appropriated for educational accountability and achievement testing, college and graduate admission testing, professional certification and licensure testing, psychological testing, intelligence testing, language testing, employment testing, adult education, military use. The emergence of computer technology has changed the landscape of education worldwide particularly the educational assessment. Although many nations, especially under-developed nations and some of the developing nations are still relying on pencil and paper mode of educational assessment, many developed and few developing nations have embraced the use of computer technology in both classroom and large scale assessments. Use of computer technology can take different forms such as Linear Computer Based assessment (LCBA) and Computer Adaptive Assessment. Delivering assessments via computers is becoming more and more prevalent in educational assessment domain as changes are made in assessment methodologies that reflect practical changes in pedagogical method.
