Dynamic Soil-Structure Interaction

Structures have always been constructed over the soil/ground either they are buildings, dams, transportation infrastructure etc. This means the foundations of such structures have always to come in contact with the various types of soil, depending upon the location and geology of the area. Such a study about this interaction between soil & structure is called as Soil-Structure Interaction. The importance of this study becomes more crucial and significant when such structure exists in areas prone to Natural Hazards like High Seismic Zones or High Flooding Areas. The prime focus of this research study is also to consider the interaction between soil & foundation in case of a seismic event and its influence on the structure which than can be described as a study of Soil-Foundation-Structure Interaction.
