Distance Education Library Services: a survey

Libraries are called as heart of any institute without which it loses its identity. With the enhancement of technology libraries role is changed rather it¿s challenging. In the age of 21st century we talk of libraries without walls as numbers of Distance Learning Institutes have taken place world widely. Studying User needs and assessment of library services is need of hour while studying the Distance Educational structure. Moving one step ahead Role of Librarians in the age MOOC is most searched area of research in recent few years. The study focuses on knowing the Indian Scenario and changed role of libraries with the inception of Correspondence courses in various universities to distance learning programmes and role of Libraries thereby in Pune region of Maharashtra State of India. Its a short survey of five university library services based on number of visits and observation using Interview technique. S.P.Pune University has funded this small project conducted for the period of one year and Results say that with the upcoming 'Digital India' Concept Distance education and MOOC's are going to be the need of hour which must be studied from Library service perspective.
