Developments of The Stirling Engines in Turkey

The first Stirling engine was designed and manufactured by Robert Stirling in 1816. Stirling engines, unlike internal combustion engines, are engines that generate power using any type of heat energy source. After the initial development of the first Stirling engine by Robert Stirling, many different Stirling engines were designed and manufactured that use different heat energy sources such as solar energy, geothermal energy, natural gas, biomass, waste heat energy and fossil fuels. In Turkey, in addition to 9 doctorate and 27 postgraduate theses on Stirling engines, numerous scientific papers have been published on Stirling engines since 1994. In Alpha, Gamma, and Beta type Stirling engines developed in Turkey, usually air and helium have been used as working fluid.
