Design and Analysis of 4 Port MIMO Antenna Array for 5G Application

In this book a 4 port MIMO antenna rectangular microstrip patch antenna is being proposed & designed using HFSS software. It is being observed that the fabricated antenna is having bandwidth of 210 MHz, the radiation efficiency of antenna is 72.04% and total Gain obtained at this frequency is 21.32 dB. The VSWR of antenna is 1.3. The antenna having impedance of 40.69¿, due to this it is easy to connect a 50¿ transmission line to antenna, without generating impedance mismatch losses. ECC values are well below 0.5 in the desired frequency bands, which ensures good diversity performance. The diversity gain in the frequency bands is almost 10 dB. The MEG curves are almost the same that signifies the independent and identical polarization diversity. A microstrip patch antenna is realized on a FR4 substrate having a dielectric constant of 1.60. Antenna fabrication and testing at 3.3GHz in anechoic chamber is in done at ¿Antenna and Liquid Crystal Research Center (ALRC)¿, KL University, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. It is believed the proposed antenna is a promising candidate for application to modern 5G wireless communication systems.
