Insect plays vital role in the ecosystem as decomposers and aid in nutrient recycling.They are silent witnesses in forensic cases and also great food source(entomophagy). The study of insects cannot be over emphasized hence insect-plant relationship is of utmost importance to humans. The collection of insects associated with decomposing ugba, a veritable food source by the igbo tribe of Nigeria would provide data in entomotoxicological cases and also insect pest management as the wrapping leaves for this ugba has been known to preserve the product, extending its shelf life and also excluding insect pests.
