Current negative impacts on language proficiency

Professional training includes the mastery of communicative competence and, within it, linguistic competence -knowledge and skills for the use of language resources-. Thus, it follows that when we are linguistically competent, we transmit clear and decipherable messages; this is the true objective of the speaker.But... why do linguistic deficiencies persist and increase among university students? Evidently, the treatment of the mother tongue (Spanish) is almost null in the context of the Cuban medical university. In the study plans of the careers studied here, this aspect is hardly contemplated and, in some cases, only very brief courses called optional are given.The book presents four articles published by these authors between 2020 and 2021, whose topics are representative of the current phenomena that affect the good practice of language in the university and media context. Undoubtedly, these contents constitute elements that integrate the same system. Therefore, according to the knowledge we have about the components of the language system, so will be our linguistic competence.
