Covid-19 and Its Impact on Dentistry

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has become a real challenge for healthcare providers around the world. The World Health Organization (WHO) recently defined COVID-19 as a health emergency of global concern and estimated the risk to be ¿very high¿. According to New York Times, dentists are one of the most exposed professionals to the COVID-19 contagion. It is necessary to establish a clinical protocol in the working environment to avoid new infections and progressive virus spread. Hence all information collected to date on the virus, in accordance with the guidelines of international health care institutions, along with a comprehensive protocol for managing possible exposure to patients or those suspected of having coronavirus needs to be addressed.
