Copyright exceptions in copyright law

Copyrights give the holder the exclusive right to reproduce, adapt, distribute, perform, and display the work. The primary legislation in the UK dealing with matters concerning intellectual property in general is the Copyright Designs and Patents Act (CDPA), 1988. Works eligible for protection under copyrights law are literary works, dramatic works, musical and artistic works, films, typographical arrangement of published editions of magazines and periodicals and sound recordings.
