Contemporary Compositional Approach to Ekpo Music of Annang People

Musical cultures around our global community are facing extinction and at the same time, the global musical audience longs for new gamut of sound. These have given rise to new art music compositional and research approaches. This work therefore, makes an allusion to the foregoing, aiming toward the preservation of Ekpo music of Annang people, its propagation to the global music audience and the contribution to knowledge in the study and understanding of African musical culture. The work is multidimensional in approach, laying credence on musicology, music composition, anthropology and history. It will be a great source of information and resources for the musicologists and other researchers interested in African Traditional and Art Music.
