CONSTRUCTION PROJECT DELIVERY IN GHANA

ABOUT THE BOOK: The Traditional design-bid-build (DBB) and design-build (DB) are alternative procurement methods currently in use in the Ghanaian construction industry. The DBB is a method where a client engages a designer to prepare drawings (architectural and structural) and specifications and the owner separately employs a contractor to translate the drawings into the physical structure. The DB method of procurement had the client enter in a single contract with one organization that integrates the design and construction process to promote speed and economy. Construction clients in Ghana, like clients in the rest of the world, are looking for the best procurement method that can meet their needs. This desire calls for an assessment and comparison of the performance of the existing procurement methods with regards to their ability to deliver within budget, complete within time and also execute a project which can stand the test of time and satisfy the purpose for which it was implemented. The book is based on a research work conducted between 2008 ¿ 2009. Historical records of completed DBB and DB projects between 2000 ¿ 2007 were surveyed in three regions of Ghana.
