Consortia Approach for Content Sharing of HELINET Databases

In the present study the investigator has made an attempt to identify Consortia approach for content sharing using HELINET databases in Health Sciences in Dakshina Kannada. Based on the information collected from the users and the Librarians, the investigator has made an attempt to study the use, impact and infrastructural facilities available for effective use of the HELINET databases.Survey method was adopted for the present study. The total population includes teaching faculty and the postgraduate students of 27 Health Science institutions of Dakshina Kannada. Two types of questionnaires were prepared, viz., one for the users and the other for the Librarians. The questionnaires was distributed to the entire population (1317) and 864 (65.60%) responses have been received. The data was collected from the users and from the Librarians scrutinized, tested and analyzed using MS Excel and with Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). Statistical tools were also applied to analyze the data. It is observed that the young generation, the postgraduate students show high level of awareness and use of HELINET resources.
