Computer Aided Design for Metal Strip coil shape corrector machine

This book presents a new approach to the selection and design of metal strip coil shape correcting machine. Coil defects as well as coil properties are categorized and relevant required machines, namely, levelers, straighteners or flatteners are specified. These functional requirements are fed to a specially devised computer technique in order to calculate the required power for leveling process, the number of rolls, rolls dimensions and configurations. Hence, a decision could be taken to either to select (purchase) or to design (construct) the machine. In case, the decision is to purchase; the computer program introduces steps for selection out of data base of machine suppliers. On the other hand, in case, it is decided to design a new machine, the computer program has been so arranged to coupe with this decision and the full design is achieved. The design procedure has been herein explained. Design computations, material selection, together with production and accuracy requirements have been fully considered in the final design.
