¿According to you, what is one thing that is very important to be a teacher? Empathy. ¿ (Interview at Pearl Academy, 2019)Empathy is the ability to understand another person¿s perspective. This research essay is focusing only on cognitive empathy specifically which aims at understanding subjective mental states, perspectives based on reasoning, logical thinking without engaging emotions. It is known to be an important psychological motivator for understanding another human being. As a tutor, I have tried to investigate cognitive empathy in multiple aspects to analyze its role, significance and to look at the possibilities of its application in design education for creating lifelong learners.
