Climatic conditions in production of barley autumn varieties for beer

Kosovo has a land surface about 1.1 million ha, from which 53% is cultivated, 41% is forest. Approximately 88% of the agricultural land is private property, meanwhile other part is social enterprises. Unemployment in Kosovo had made that agriculture to be main branch of Kosovo economy, especially in rural zone which represent 60% of the population. From 577,000 ha agricultural land, about 300,000 ha are planted with agricultural cultures. With cereals 44% of surface, from which, wheat 45%, maize 44%, oat 8%, barley 3% and rye less than 1%. Barley is a plant which in Europe has an important place in the structure of cultivated plant. Barley is mainly used for beer production. Currently in Europe it has an important place in the structure of cultivated plant. Its composition serves for curing many diseases or healthy disorders, however main use of barley is for the beer malt production. In barley grain quality for the production of beer malt important part is small content of protein high content of starch and amylases, enzymes which check starch dissolving especially starch compose. Protein and starch content in barley grain are genetic characteristics, influenced also from environment conditions.
