Civil Protection in the Republic of Srpska

"In its simplest form, civil protection is conceived as an activity to mitigate the consequences of disasters, implement preventive and protection measures based on specific knowledge exchange and construction, capabilities and capacities among the states. European civil protection development has been based on the balance of national responsibility and European solidarity from the very beginning." (Bara, 2010) "More serious cooperation is established with the EU which was interested to organise civil protection in BiH, and thus in RS, in accordance with the Decision on Civil protection organization in the EU , as well as to apply the Guidelines for Host Country Support in Receiving International Assistance in Protection and Rescue . Regarding these activities, BiH has had a serious cooperation with Kingdom of Denmark Emergency Management Agency- DEMA. The result was Risk-Based Dimensioning Manual establishment, and later on Risk Assessment of Flood and Landslides for the Housing Sector in BiH."
