Chemistry of Batteries

The development of battery as an electrochemical power source has made it usable globally to communicate, work, study, listen to music and search for knowledge. The modern lightweight, rechargeable and powerful battery is now used in everything from mobile phones to laptops and electric vehicles. It can also store significant amounts of energy from solar and wind power, making possible a fossil fuel-free society. Different chemistries of battery are described in this book. Positive and negative electrode materials, liquid and solid electrolyte are discussed in detail. An electrochemical model of lithium ion battery is developed using Simulink and artificial neural network models are constructed. In addition to the battery, the basic principle and models of the ultracapacitor are also included in the book.
