Thienopyrimidinones are the bioisoster of quinazoline heterocyclics and unlike quinazoline, it exists in three possible annulations of thiophene to the pyrimidine ring viz thieno[2,3-d] pyrimidine, thieno[3,2-d]pyrimidine and thieno[3,4-d]pyrimidine. Thienopyrimidinones moiety exhibits various activities like analgesic, antihypertensive, platelet aggregation inhibitors, antiprotozoal, a bronchodilator, phosphodiesterase inhibitor and antihistaminic activities. The antimicrobial activity of some novel Thienopyrimidinones derivatives have been evaluated as per the standard protocol and all the derivatives are found to be equally potent like a standard drug.
