Chemical and biological study of Pistacia lentiscus L. from Morocco

Within the framework of the valorization of the natural substances, we were interested in the study of the lentisque -Pistacialentiscus L.- collected from different sites of Eastern Morocco and during different periods of the year.The results showed that the chemical composition of the essential oil of the leaves and fruits of PLL. can vary considerably depending on: -the part of the plant studied,-the region of harvest,-the harvesting period The analysis of the mineral composition by inductively coupled plasma (ICP) revealed that the leaves and fruits are rich in mineral elements (Ca, Zn, K, Fe, Li, Se, Mn, Mg, La) and can play an important role as a food supplement.The study of the antibacterial activity of the essential oils of leaves and fruits showed that the essential oil of Jerada is endowed with a good antibacterial activity, while the study of the scavenging effect of the DPPH radical reveals that the essential oil of the leaves of Taforalt is the most active than the EO of the leaves and fruits of Saidia, It can be proposed as a new potential source of additive in the food and pharmaceutical industry.
