Challenges of e-Government

The revolution in information and communication technologies is changing the way the governments (and local self-governments) interact with citizens and entrepreneurs, and other economic or non-governmental subjects. E-Government today means the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) to transform the relations between government and citizens in order to provide efficient, convenient and transparent services to citizens as well as entrepreneurs. Government transformation from department-centered to a citizen-centered way of working, demands the vision of government service accessibility to the common people in their locality, through simple service delivery output and ensuring efficiency, transparency and reliability of such services at affordable costs to meet the basic needs of a common man. Changing towards better effectiveness, governments should seek for models of administration that will be able to respond to the needs of citizens (clients) with a minimum response time, with thin and flat administration.
