CFD ANALYSIS OF DOWNDRAFT BIOMASS GASIFIER

In the current analysis, the application of computational fluid dynamics analysis was applied in order to analyze the potential of producer gas from downdraft biomass gasifier. The gasification of bamboo feedstock was analyzed in standard and proposed downdraft biomass gasifier having different throat cone angle, which were 90¿ and 30¿ respectively. In this analysis the effects of the throat cone angle of gasifier on the gasification process, temperature distribution and composition of producer gas were assessed. An attempt has been made to bring computational results closure to the experimental results. In the present analysis, the most suitable throated cone angle has been obtained which results in an increment of production of combustible gases in the producer gas.
