Invention of gear cannot be attributed to any one individual as the development of the toothed gearing system evolved gradually from the primitive form, when a wooden pin was arranged on the periphery of simple, solid, wooden wheels to drive the opposite member of the pair.Though many inventions have made a great impact, very few are standing with the same honor out of the rest. Gears are one of such inventions, which is in use still today. The history of gear is possibly as old as early civilization itself and yet today, gears play a major role in manufacturing industry.
