Cell Biology

Cell biology (also cellular biology or cytology) is a branch of biology focused on the study of cell structure and function, on how cells form and divide, and how they differentiate and specialize. Cell biology defines both the general properties, common to most cell types, and also dissects the unique features of specialized cells, which allow them to perform different functions. Cell biology does not stand alone as a discipline but is closely related to other areas of biology such as genetics, molecular biology, and biochemistry. The purpose of this laboratory manual is to introduce undergraduate and postgraduate students from different disciplines to understand the basic techniques used in Cell Biology Lab and ensure that they can understand the theoretical aspects of cell biology and master the lab skills necessary to be competitive in their scientific life and researches. The intent of this lab manual is to make the students more independent. Practically all the directions for work to do are contained in it; for this reason, the work as assigned from day to day should be read over carefully before beginning the exercise and then followed step by step.
