Building Capacity for Enterprise Development: An Empirical Perspective

Small and micro enterprises development is not easy to come by because of business skills challenges among people. Government at various levels have initiatives in the form of capacity building programs or training to help promote such development. The challenging issue is, developing and sustaining the small and micro businesses to the next level of growth, in fact hardly do the program beneficiaries' enterprises survive the first six months after the program. This situation is more prevalent in the developing countries. This book, therefore, is aimed at developing a bit better way of how small and micro enterprises development process could be improved. To make it more beneficial to readers, a scientific approach was adopted to at least prove and establish reasons for the problems and suggest solutions to that effect. A number of enterprise development training institutes were used in Kano, Nigeria to empirically test and figure out whether the quality of the training, competency of the trainers, and the facilities used influence enterprise development. With the aid of SPSS, the findings show that all the postulated variables have significant effects on enterprise development.
