In most likely prevalent mandibular OSCC, population are habituated to tobacco lime quid, betel nut quid with or without tobacco, pan with or without tobacco habit in both urban and rural Maharashtra, India. The favored site of its placement intraorally is right or left lower gingivobuccal vestibule or gingivolabial sulcus. These favored sites have the non-keratinized mucosa and the quid/ bolus remains in close contact with the mandible. Poor periodontal condition also increases the chances of mandibular involvement by oral carcinoma in our situation. Hence the use of Dentascan in evaluation of invasion of mandibular Squamous cell carcinoma is discussed in this book.
