Black Aesthetics in African Drama

Black Aesthetics in African Drama discusses the theatrical links that connect two literary traditions on both sides of the Atlantic divide (African and African-American literatures). With the illustrations from the plays of Femi Osofisan (Nigerian) and those of Amiri Baraka (African-American), the work argues that both authors explore the indigenous folklores of African communities, at relative socio-cultural temperament, as the basis for their dramatic moods. Revealing and insightful, the book is a resourceful documentation of the rich cultural fabrics of Africa which is extended, through cultural migration, to the Diaspora. It proves that African nostalgic temperament is an influential dramatic feature across the Atlantic divide
