Maitreya was residing in the Tushita heaven, situated between the heaven of Yama and the heaven of Nirmanarati. There also resided the Bodhisattva ¿vetaketu (P¿li: Setaketu, white flag), before being reborn on earth as Siddhartha Gautama.
