Best Practices in College Libraries

Library profession is a very noble profession and through modernizing the library operation and services applying ICT as well as facilitating other best practices, we may be able to fulfill the Five Laws of Library and Information Science enunciated by Dr. S.R. Ranganathan which ultimately aiming at satisfying users demands. The application of ICT enables the library and information professionals to manage the library properly and to provide better facilities, functions and services to meet the present day challenges. The library and information centres should serve their user community by their best collection, in a best possible ways and means at least possible time and cost. A library, by opting best practices especially modernizing their operations and services, through using information technology can satisfy the present day needs of the users accessing through consortium based global information networks. The data received from the college libraries of the study area about state of the art facilities, functions, best practices and users¿ feedback on those services, functions, facilities etc. have been analysed , illustrated, presented with graphical representation in the book.
