Basic English Course for special education

This book is also intended for professionals who have not studied English for specific purposes and wish to enrich their knowledge within the context of their specialism. The specialist content is drawn and adapted from a wide variety of up- to- date sources. The content is graded both to match the usual sequence of presentation in the specialism and to provide an introduction to special education to target learners. The purpose of this ESP course is to increase and develop, in a short period of time, the linguistic potentialities and communicative competencies of tertiary level special education students who need the language to acquire knowledge in their own specialties. Therefore, the course aims to develop students' language skills in the context of special education terminology with emphasis on reading, speaking, writing, grammar, vocabulary and translation.This book is an attempt to emphasize and integrate the Basic English language skills for special purposes. It consists of ten chapters and a glossary of special education terms. Each chapter consists of six sections: reading passage, word study, grammar presentation, communication skills, writing, and translation.
