Assessment of the Risk of Post-mining Ponds in Jos-south LGA Nigeria

This book is aimed at assessing the environmental risk of mining ponds in Bukuru, Jos-South LGA of Plateau State. In achieving this, primary data was collected from selected mining pond sites for laboratory analysis. Mining operations, whether small or large-scale, are inherently disruptive to the environment. The history and development of modern Plateau State is tied to the discovery and mining of tin deposits among other minerals. Intensive mining in Jos has left a derelict landscape of wasted land. The study revealed that; the land use activities associated with the mining ponds are public water supply, crop cultivation, fish farming, recreation, block making industry and animal watering.
