Assertiveness and vulnerability to manipulation

Assertiveness is a person's ability to defend his or her rights and interests confidently and with dignity, without infringing on the rights of others. Assertive behavior is an optimal way of interpersonal interaction, which is an alternative to manipulation and aggression. Assertive people are more successful in social situations, happier, more honest, healthier and less frequently manipulated. The book contains the author's research on the problem of assertiveness, vulnerability to manipulation, their properties and connections. The author presents reliable and valid tests of assertiveness and vulnerability of an individual to manipulative influences. Interrelationships of assertiveness with psychological and socio-psychological characteristics of an individual and social interactions of an assertive person with surrounding people are studied. Connections of vulnerability from manipulations with psychological sex, internality, self-confidence of students and with cognitive and personal characteristics of teenagers are shown. Connections of assertiveness and vulnerability from manipulations with emotional intelligence, Machiavellism, internality, affiliations and mental conditions of individuals are revealed.
