Aspects of Ivorian orality

The texts gathered in this book are part of my university research on African oral literature. Already published, with one exception, in various academic journals, they deal more specifically with the orality of Ivorian societies. Three literary genres and a reflection on political communication in Côte d'Ivoire are examined: the song of traditional hunters and that of the military; anthroponymic names and then toponymic and ethnonymic names; the mottos or motto names of the Odjoukrou ethnic group in their performative, panegyric and symbolic perspectives; and finally the values of traditional African political communication likely to have an impact on the harmonious development of the Ivorian nation.
