Application of WINISIS in Library Housekeeping Operations and Services

The study incorporates the design and development of modules for automated housekeeping operations and library services. It considered the housekeeping operations like Acquisition, Cataloguing, Circulation, Serial Control and OPAC. The automation of library services such as Article Indexing, Bibliographical Services, Newspaper Clippings, Web Based Services; Selective Dissemination of Information, Current Awareness Service and Content Abstract Photocopy Service were also done in the study. The deep study of library housekeeping operations and services was conducted to identify and define the specific fields, databases and modules. Emphasis was given to maintain standard and uniformity while generating Field Definition Table, Data Entry Worksheet, Field Select Table and Print Format. Linking of databases and linking of files related to other software like Word, Excel, Power Point, Quick Time Viewer, Pdf Reader, Window Media Player, and Image Viewer etc. was the priority area in the whole study. For practical approach sample data was entered and applicability was tested.
