Analyze & Evaluate The Performance Of Search Engines

This book explores the various research methodology in the area of information retrieval from web and judge the relevance of web pages. In this work, we explored various aspects of performance measure of search engines and focused on designing an enhanced and more efficient method of evaluation to help information seeker to analyse and find the better search engine to retrieve the desired and satisfactory information from the web.The work presented, not only suggests prescriptions for evaluating the information retrieval systems but also to provide a wider discussion of how to resolve the existing issues related with search engines evaluation.Furthermore, we report results of major search engines differentiation with the help of the proposed method through an accepted number of TREC queries over various search modes. Finally, we applied the proposed procedure as a mechanism for estimating the performance of popular search engines using TREC queries, and shown that our method is feasible, effective and adaptable solution for evaluating the search engines.
