Analytical Methods for Estimation of Nifedipine & Metoprolol Succinate

Hypertension and Angina pectoris' are a major public health problem in the developing countries. Nifedipine and Metoprolol Succinate is a newly fixed dose combination used in hypertension and Angina pectoris condition. This combination therapy gives antihypertensive and antianginal treatment for the conditions of cardiac diseases. So the analytical methods, like spectroscopy and high performance liquid chromatography, were developed for this combination. Here, two spectroscopy method (Absorbance Correction method, first derivative spectroscopy method) and one high performance liquid chromatography method (RP HPLC) is used for the simultaneous estimation of Nifedipine and Metoprolol Succinate in formulation, bulk and synthetic mixture.
