An Assessment of Mgnregs With Reference to Scheduled Caste Household

Majority of the sample respondents are found to be satisfied with MGNREGS. Self-respect and self-confidence are improved very much in the opinion of majority of the sample respondents post MGNREGS. Purchasing power of the sample respondents is improved after MGNREGS and three fourths of the sample respondents reported that expenditure on nutrition food is increased to some extent. Majority of the sample respondents are strongly agreed that MGNREGS has provided protection against extreme poverty. MGNREGS are very useful for SC/ST Colonies. Thus, the study shows that MGNREGS has resulted in changing the lives of the Scheduled Castes. . Special incentives should be provided to those workers from Scheduled Castes in order to encourage more number of Scheduled Castes people to participate in the Scheme. Finally, special incentives should be sanctioned to those rural Scheduled Caste households, who complete 100 days of work under the scheme, in order to encourage Scheduled Castes to actively participate in the Scheme.
